The banana is nick-named "kalpatharu" in India, since all its parts, plant, leaves, pseudostems and flower buds - have many uses for the health of human beings. in

The Lancet publication of June 10, 1916 reported that a government official was cured of a venomous snake bite after both ingesting the plantain stem juice and also applying it to the wound.
Traditionally, musa plants have been used to lower blood sugar and as a mouthwash to treat sores and toothache. Plantain teas were made from the leaves and used to treat lung disorders and stomach
problems.

Ingredients in this Immune Support extract have been researched to show a calming and normalizing affect on the G I tract. Studies have been conducted in both India and the UK, which support the role
of parts of the musa plant to assist in proper GI function.
The effects of Musa Paradisiaca (a component of Active Immune Support) has
been studied in relation to Gastric mucosal shedding. These studies have shown
that
the musa treatment increased the gastric mucosal resistance and showed a decrease
in gastric juice DNA, which was measured to serve as an index of the rate of
mucosal shedding. increased cellular mucus may be a factor for increased
mucosal resistance. In conclusion, the results of the present study tend to confirm
that the musa plant strengthens mucosal resistance and promotes the healing
of ulcers.

Furthermore, the antiulcerogenic activity of the unripe plantain was found to be antiulcerogenic against aspirin induced ulcers in laboratory rats. It was also effective as a prophylactic treatment
and in healing ulcers already induced by aspirin.

Urological
Kidney stones (renal calculi) are basically an accumulation of mineral salts that crystallize and can lodge anywhere along the urinary tract. These stones can be very painful. Normally, the
substances that make up the stones remain in solution and are passed daily in a person's urine. However, often in cases of a depressed immune system or if the pH of the urine becomes out of balance,
then crystallization can occur and stones may develop.

Benign Prostatic Hypertophy (BHP)
Two randomized clinical studies conducted on groups of men diagnosed with BHP and treated with betasitosterol over a six month trial, showed significant improvement in subjective symptoms. The

Anti-Inflammatory
Plant sterols given to rats demonstrated anti-inflammatory effects not unlike cortisone. They are capable of reducing the secretion of proinflammatory cytokines.

Blood Sugar Control
An animal study including both normal and hyperglycemic rats indicated sugar control benefits. Theoretically, phytosterols may increase insulin levels by stimulation of insulin secretion from
